As a consumer we choose companies and brand's that cater to us. When a company has a specific audience it'll have business as long as the targeted audience doesn't become irrelevant. On top of keeping a specific audience it reduces the amount of people who shop with them due to different factors. The category I focused on was the targeted audience of the grocery stores Sprouts and Cream Of The Crop. These two grocery stores have similar audiences but also have different factors to them.
To start, both of these companies target an audience who lives healthy lifestyles. They both sell healthy, organic options to people who choose to live this lifestyle. On the Cream Of The Crop website they emphasize this by having their own page dedicated to their juice bar and to the specials they're having for their produce which seems to be mostly organic. With Sprouts they also advertise a healthy lifestyle with their different options of differently grown items. They do it a little differently and have on their homepage their variety of organic, gluten free, plant based items and more. Another thing that they both have in common is they have their own tab for savings. With this not only do they have an audience of people with healthy lifestyles they've expanded their audience to people who want to save. These companies may have similar things they sell but also their websites give a similar impression. Other than them promoting their healthy options they use a white and green theme with their websites that make it seem like their grocery store provides us with healthy options.
With their similarities they also have their differences. Cream Of The Crop is a smaller company and doesn't have much of a variety as Sprouts does. One thing they have that Sprouts doesn't have listed on their homepage is their catering service. Sprouts may have it on their specific tabs such as under the deli, produce, or bakery however Cream Of The Crop only has their one catering tab that offers vegetable platters and charcuterie boards. Another difference from these two is Sprouts has their own tab with recipes. With the recipe tab it expands their target audience even more to people who like to broaden their horizons of cooking. Since Cream Of The Crop is such a small store, their only store is in Oceanside they have their own contact tab which is way more convenient and efficient than having to contact Sprouts.
Though these websites have many similarities and differences they still have their specific demographics to them. Their main audience may be similar as they both have a green, healthy atmosphere to them, but after going through their different services this audience can change. With Sprouts having a variety of departments and more options of differently grown items and their recipes section the audience could be bigger than Cream Of The Crop. Yet with Cream Of The Crop only being accessible to people only in an Oceanside distance and their catering services they also grow their own audience separate from the one they share with Sprouts.
