When making a website for your business it’s important to keep aesthetics into the factor. As a consumer you want to be able to easily access whatever you’re trying to buy. When businesses don’t make their website easily accessible to their customers it makes them not want to use their website and there becomes a potential risk of losing revenue. For starters, the first website is a company that fixes and repairs ATARI parts. When you open their homepage it’s very cluttered with unnecessary text. This can be fixed by having multiple pages for their website, Their first paragraph talks about the backstory behind the company but that could be put on its own page such as an ‘About Us’ page. Another factor of consideration is the alignment of the design of the website. The text is very big and takes up a good amount of the page, and the photos they’ve added jumble up the whole page. To fix this I would recommend that they minimize the font and place the photos where it doesn’t mess up the text.
The other website is a fence/gate installation company. One thing they can do to improve their website is to change their color scheme. The background of the website is a low quality photo of a marble background with a red and blue text color scheme, grey background fill, and a green banner. All these colors make it seem more unorganized than it really is. Another thing that could be worked on is to add a drop bar for each category. They have many categories of services they do but they’re all on the side and take up a lot of room which eliminates a lot of negative space. Negative space is good because it lets the consumer focus on the specific service they’re looking for. If they add a drop bar for each main category it would definitely clear up the page. On their homepage they have photos of their services but have no context to them and are scattered around the page. A better way to incorporate their photos is to add specific photos on to each category tab. It would show an example for what each different gate would look like also it would show an example of how good their services are.
Though these websites need work, with the right look they could boosts online revenue. However these websites that are ran by bigger corporations have people that look out for the design of their company. https://www.toyota.com/ and https://www.apple.com/ have quality factors of a website that keeps the consumer coming back. Both websites have a lot of negative space, too much writing will drive consumers away they want efficiency when looking for online services. Each one has a simple layout to find whatever service you’re looking for as well as photos for each service so you don’t need to search that hard. With their layout the alignment of everything is perfect. For Apple they have a vertical layout so everything is very clean and even. Toyota has a different layout where they have little categories separated throughout the homepage yet similar services are close to each other. Even though on the Toyota page you have to scroll more to look for a service it lets a consumer go through their whole site and see all of their services. This is good because now you know what else you can get done by them.
