For my blog theme I wanted to keep it very simple for now. When looking for a layout I found many options that I liked however I was able to narrow it to pick from the top three I had interest in. For the layout I chose the 'Notable Antique' theme however I had a couple different options I liked to go with a darker theme such as the 'Dark Contempo' or the 'Neon SoHo'. I plan to change it to the 'Neon SoHo' once I find a good photo that I could use for the front of my blog, but I'd like to use a photo I took instead of searching for the perfect one.
For the reason why I like this specific look is cause I prefer something simple rather than a busy background. When the background is too bright or theres too much going on its harder to focus on the main thing at hand; the actual blog posts. For that reason I used the advanced settings to change the background color to a dark gray. I was going to just use black however it seems too dark versus if you use multiple shades of gray throughout the theme it's easier to see the different sections. I also changed the color of the font on my blog to all white. I want my posts to pop and be at least a little more interesting than the background.
When I looked at the theme example I have currently, each post has a little photo with it. I kinda wanted to use that as an advantage to help myself get back into photography. I made a goal for myself to add a photo I've taken to each one of my post, even if it's not related to the blog post itself. I haven't taken many photos recently due to the lack of motivation so hopefully doing this would bring back that motivation. Every photo I've taken has some sort of little story to each one so I'd like to share it at the end of each blog post as-well as some of the technical aspects of the photo just incase anyone was interested.
The photo I've added to this post was a photo I took in February of 2020. My best friend who lives in Australia came to visit me for the first time. We met online in 2012 and have been best friends ever since. When she came down here we took her to San Francisco and did all types of tourist activities; Pier 39, Lombard street, shopping at Market street, and obviously the Golden Gate bridge. To talk about the technical parts of the photo, I used a low shutter speed to make the photo brighter but which also caused that string of lights of the traffic passing through. As-well a high aperture so everything that was in the photo was clear as I had no specific focal point.

Hi Davina. That's so cool you're a photographer, do you have a website? I really like your theme, I tend to prefer darker themes, I think they have a classy look to them. The picture you shared came out really nice. I've always been interested in photography but never quite got the courage to pursue it.
ReplyDeleteHi, thank you for sharing all the details that were involved in creating your site. I think it’s really color how you experimented with different combination of colors. The gray colors definitely complinet the picture you shared, it blends seamlessly which is nice because abruptness is not the vibe. I also think it’s really color how you explained the photographic elements of how you took the phone. I take pictures with my phone so I don’t lower aperture or increase shutter speed but I can appreciate their mention. I’m excited to see your upcoming pictures.
ReplyDeleteI do think your background is very simple good job. I will say that the dark one color background makes it difficult to see the letters. I had trouble finding where to publish this post .
ReplyDeleteI like the style and font of your blog but I believe it could use a little something extra. The background and text kinda clash in some places, any blue is hard to see on the grey. I really like your photo of the golden gate bridge, great start!
